Independent game reviews from the bottom of the world.
Tarenuxol was founded in Auckland in 2021 by a small group of friends who were tired of reading game reviews that felt disconnected from the way real players experience games. We wanted something honest, thorough, and written by people who actually care about the craft of game design.
Today, our team of eight reviewers covers PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo titles across every genre. We're based across New Zealand — from Wellington to Christchurch — and we bring a distinctly Kiwi perspective to everything we write.
No review goes live until the reviewer has completed the main campaign and spent meaningful time with side content.
Our 10-point scale is clearly defined. We explain every score and never let publisher relationships influence our verdicts.
We accept no payment for reviews. Review copies are disclosed. Our opinions are entirely our own.
Every number means something specific.
A landmark title that defines its genre. Flaws are minor and do not detract from an exceptional experience.
A strong, enjoyable game with clear strengths. Some rough edges, but absolutely worth your time if the genre appeals.
Has merit but is held back by significant issues. Approach with tempered expectations or wait for a sale.
